I will be running breakout sessions at the Elsevier Editors’ conference this coming Saturday. One of my main suggestions is using 2collab to share presentations, images, etc. that are related to articles, so I figured I should practice what I preach. For a summary of the presentation, please check out this post on my personal blog.
Key questions from that post are:
When you get a chance, please take a look at the presentation and let me know if you have any suggestions about how journal editor’s or authors can use social media. Also, please send any examples you know of editors using social media such as blogs or Flickr to interact with authors, editorial boards, or readers. Thanks.
Interesting article here from Information Age about ten “outstanding examples of business social media projects harnessing the power of community and collaboration”. We’re more than a little pleased that 2collab made the list.
An excerpt from their interview with our MD:
2collab [...] not only allows the users to interact with the content itself, but provides Elsevier with valuable insight into how readers perceive the content. “We can start to build that into indexing and search algorithms,” explains Jay Katzen, Elsevier’s managing director for academic and government products.
These tools and services represent a fundamental shift in Elsevier’s role, says Katzen, from publisher to ‘information solution provider’. “In the end we are trying to improve research performance productivity,” Katzen explains, “and enable researchers to connect to each other in new and better ways.”
2collab is Elsevier's free reference management and social bookmarking solution. We use our blog to keep you up to date on new developments and to share additional related information of interest. Please feel free to comment or contact us with your ideas.
