How Scientists Are Harnessing Social Media

I wanted to share these slides that Fabian Kersten presented at the Online Information conference in London this week. He talked about some of the insights from our survey, the one about how Scientists use social media applications, and how they expect them to influence their research work in the future. He also gave a run-down of the features of 2collab itself. Apparently it was standing-room-only!

Afterwards, Dick Kaser of Information Today commented on his blog that “2collab, IMHE, blends a full range of Web 2.0 tools into a platform that should make sense to, and is totally appropriate for, the research community, at least the digital native end of it.  Wave of the future?  Quite possibly. Added value on top of the literature?  You bet.  The type of innovation I would expect from the market leader?  Ab.sol.ute.ly.”

Thanks Dick!

Formatting bibliographies with 2collab

Hi Everyone, another new feature alert here.

While you’re collecting papers in 2collab for your ongoing research, you can now use 2collab to format them into your bibliography: select a list of bookmarked papers from ‘My Bookmarks’, use the arrow button for export, and select the bibliography style of the journal to which you’ll submit your paper. The available styles are:

  • APA – American Psychological Association
  • ACM – Association for Computing Machinery
  • ACS – American Chemical Society
  • AMA – American Medical Association
  • CBE – Council of Biology Editors
  • Chicago 15th Edition
  • Elsevier
  • Harvard
  • MLA – Modern Language Association
  • Turabian
  • Vancouver

Next to this, you can also format a citation into one of the above styles, directly from the ‘Details‘ view of any 2collab bookmark. Then just copy and paste directly into your manuscript.

As always please drop us a line with any questions about this or any other 2collab feature at feedback@2collab.com.

    Thanks,

    Camelia
